Selkie Sirin's Crip-Time Strip (2019)
Sound by Hang Linton

A crip-time strip by your local monster stripper, Selkie Sirin. This performance highlights ableist performance pressure within the cultural field as well as in everyday life. It draws on personal experiences and other crip people's accounts of sex work as a disabled person as a means to be financially stable alongside experiences of being tokenised by arts and cultural institutions. Influenced by the mythological creature of Scottish and Icelandic folklore, the Selkie would shed it's skin to become human. This performance features genuine smelly Scottish seaweed from the coast of Ayrshire.
